Description
The Avant Guard is one of the major bosses encountered at Waves 43, 44, and 49. It spawns during the middle of the waves and has 
25,000 health, 
55,000 shield health, along with 
6 defense. It may look like a weak boss due to its health, but this boss has the ability to serve as a deadly meat shield for The Vanguard since Avant Guards are decently fast and have an enormous shield bubble that protects them.
The Avant Guard is replaced by the Robotic Guard when the 'Ranked Up' modifier is applied.
Lore
The Vanguard is a great ceremonial position within the Xerath empire, often deemed as the most important position in the galaxy. Of course, most of it is smoke and mirrors (they no longer serve importance in war but rather in politics), but Avant Guards are the relic of such a thing. Who are they? Once the royal guard to the war general, they are the equivalent of 'bodyguards' in the modern day, following the Vanguard and ensuring his complete security. Do not make any attempt to sway their opinions - Avant Guards are extremely loyal to their leader.
"One of the prime defendants of The Vanguard. Very few exist as many have been killed in the war, but these swear by their lives to defend The Vanguard at all costs. Their complete faith make them a formidable foe."
Faith will get you no where. You continue to believe in blind lies because of what your boss hammered into your brain when you were in the army camp. Do not believe it Avant Guard. The truth is what matters, that's what the Grand Bobo told us. I swear, he will be a much more promising leader than the Overlord. Look at what he already did with the classified projects. Abandon these old grudges and convinctions and let us bring a new era.
Appearance
The Avant Guard looks similar to the previous versions, but with notable differences. It's armor and pauldrons are now completely grey and the neon on them are removed. It's axe has a different model.
The Avant Guard is a faceless light grey skinned being with a Valkyrie on its head with an orange and black color scheme. It also wears black armor on its body, with a small orange square in the center of the chestplate. Neon orange bands can be found on its shoulder, hands, and legs. In the grip of its right hand, it wields a grey metal axe with a black handle and orange glowing gems.
Tactics
- Mechanic's Teslas and 2-4 Electricizer can slow down Avant Guards
- Heavy DPS towers such as, 2-4 Vulcan and 4-2 Elite will deal heavy damage to Avant Guard.
- Use 4-2 Bugler to increase the overall damage output of towers, or use 2-4 Bugler to buff the Vulcan's range.
- 4-X Elites are useful due to their 3x damage against shields.
Trivia
- The Avant Guard's name is a pun on the term avant-garde, which means "new and experimental ideas and methods in art, music, or literature". However, its nature appears to have no correlation to this expression whatsoever.
