Description
The Boltmaster, formerly known as L0rd Sw0rdm4ster, is the first major boss encountered in Expert Mode. It has rather a lot of health for its debut and two abilities.
Its first ability is a sword slam ability, which stuns and decreases firerate from all towers within the radius of the shockwave. The second is a summoning ability, in which it can spawn either three Shielders, UFOs, Raygunners, or MK11-Devices. Due to how many MK11-Devices it can spawn with this ability, the amount of enemies spawned can easily overwhelm you.
He is replaced by the Cysian Master in Ranked up Expert.

"The death of Voltmaster sparked a great divide within the cult that inspired his success. Despite his mummified corpse, his influence lives on. Those who led such an organization convinced a division of the Xerath commanding council to rebuild Voltmaster - using his body as the foundation for a powerful mechanical creature. The result was Boltmaster, but it didn't go as planned - it betrayed the vision many members had in mind, it's purples and blacks and metallic armor contrasting too deeply with the medieval aesthetic the cult has come to love. Therefore, those who remained within rebelled against the Xerath empire for their actions, but they were swiftly eliminated. What remains is Boltmaster, a powerful asset the XCF utilize (almost akin to the Robotic Overseer, only lacking his large intellect). Whether or not this variant has the same level of consciousness is unknown, though it would have the correct motivation for rebelling against the XCF and providing assistance to us."

The mysterious army behind their track-record of world domination has used the Hierarch as a suitable foundation for their next biggest project. Covered in robotic parts, strange lights and bandages, it is almost impossible to see the mummified corpse of the demised Voltmaster."

That's what the Grand Bobo said. Heeding his word, we decided to halt production of Boltmaster, and took away funding from research and development of future models. Perhaps he was right, in retrospect these models made minimal impact on conquering worlds, other than being a useful bombing target by the UEC.

Appearance
The Boltmaster is very similar to the Voltmaster. It has a black chestplate, leg armor, arm armor and knee-pads, and black shoulder-pads. It has a black Dominus with a purple visor. It has multiple purple glowing parts on its body. On its back, it has a sword with purple glowing parts to perform its two abilities. It wears a cape as well. It has black bands on its hands. Part of its body is diamond-plated.
Tactics
- Affordable high DPS towers such as Electricizer and Sniper can deal with Boltmaster.
- As Boltmaster can summon enemies, it is recommended to set slow-firing towers to Strong, while having other towers deal with its summons.
- Demolitionist and X-3 Mechanic can clear out summons easily.
- As Boltmaster can summon enemies, it is recommended to set slow-firing towers to Strong, while having other towers deal with its summons.
- It is recommended to use 4-2 Bugler to buff tower's firerate to deal more damage faster.
- The X-3 Unit Commander ability can be used to destroy the MK11-Devices that are spawned by the Boltmaster.
- Short-range towers such as Cyberblade and Vulcan are more prone to be stunned by Boltmaster's Sword Slam ability.
- Place towers away from Boltmaster, or use long-range towers.
Trivia
- Boltmaster's original name, L0rd Sw0rdm4st3r, most likely got changed because its name represented Lord Swordmaster, the original major boss of Normal Mode, but the actual reason is still unknown.
- This may have been due to the nature of the older name, which the format in this context might've made fun on how it was a reskin of Lord Swordmaster.
- All of the vowels were converted into leet speak for its old name, L0rd Sw0rdm4st3r, which may have been done due to its use in usernames.
- Boltmaster has a happy face, you can see it when its hood does not load completely.
- Boltmaster's enemy description hints that it rebelled against the XCF and provided assistance to the UEC, though what and why is unknown.
- This may be related to the transmission in Wave 49, sent by someone referred to as the Cryptic Voice, though whether or not Boltmaster is behind the transmission is not clear.
- Due to the text color of the Cryptic Voice, Boltmaster and Robotic Overseer are considered the main candidates as the culprits behind the transmission, though OsterDog hinted at there are multiple people behind it.
- This may be related to the transmission in Wave 49, sent by someone referred to as the Cryptic Voice, though whether or not Boltmaster is behind the transmission is not clear.
- Boltmaster used to appear on Wave 38 'Ranked Up' Hard Mode. However, this was later changed to Vengeful Champion as of 13/11/21.
- Boltmaster death sound come from Star Wars IV The Empire Strikes Back, specifically taken from Millennium Falcon.
