Challenges


Challenges are special game modes that varies in difficulty and conditions, such as, specific towers, limited upgrades, specific maps, and specific wave start and end.

There are two different challenges available to each player which are Simple and Advanced. Different challenges are available each day, which comes in an order. Completing a challenge will award you with various amount of experience and points, in which can be used to purchase skins for towers and level up. Challenges can be accessed at the left of the screen, between skins and contracts. Some challenges can be played with multiple people, and some challenges have modifiers or lock certain upgrades to make the gameplay spicier. All Tier 5 upgrades are locked, and a tower cannot be upgraded into a tier 5 upgrade if applicable.

Simple Challenges

Simple Challenges are easier challenges but gives low amount of experience and points. Most of them are played in Normal Mode and Hard Mode.

1. Autumn's Coming

This is probably the easiest challenge as you can do anything. You can actually use any tower you want and you'll probably win. But here is a strategy for players with only Slinger/only Sharp: Spam 0-0 Slingers then upgrade it to 0-2 afterwards. If you have Sharpshooter, place a 2-4 and a 4-0.
2. Bomb The Rest
Slinger, Gunslinger, Demolitionist and Recon Base only.
1-X Slinger, 1-X Gunslinger and X-1 Recon Base upgrades are locked.

Place a 3-2 Crossbower for starting. Then place a 2-3 Sniper. Afterwards, place a 4-X Freezer, Try to maximise it's range and keep in mind that the freezer gets a huge range boost at 3-X. Getting 4-X Freezer will stunlock most enemies. Then, upgrade your 2-3 Sniper into 2-4 and keep spamming 2-4 Snipers until you win.
18. Underdogs
Slinger Crossbower Freezer and Gunslinger. No other restrictions.

Advanced Challenges

Advanced challenges are harder challenges that gives more rewards. Most of them are played in Normal Mode and Expert Mode. Completing 4 different ones will unlock the Elite tower.

1. Unseen Threat
Crossbower, Demolitionist, Sniper and Trapper only.
Bottom path for Crossbower is locked.

Turn on auto skip until wave 7, place a 2-2 Demolitionist at the first C-curve, then, place a 2-3 Sniper at the third C-curve near the tree, after that, upgrade the Demolitionist to 2-3, use the ability on Berserker as soon as it comes out and use the ability on him again as soon as the cooldown is off, upgrade the Sniper to 2-4 afterwards, after that, get another 2-3 Demolitionist, then get another 2-4 Sniper near the first one, use the Demolitionist's ability on the Raygunners as soon as they were about to reach the middle of the first C-Curve, then use the ability again on the last two Sprinter M5s and you will win eventually.
2. Freezeflame
Sharpshooter and Freezer only.
3-X upgrade for Sharpshooter is locked.

You can only place 18 towers.

4. Heated Battle
Sharpshooter and Electricizer only.
3-X upgrade for Sharpshooter and X-3 upgrade for Electricizer are locked.

It is recommended to place the towers at the curve. Place a 2-4 Sharpshooter in the middle of the map. Place another 2-4 Sharpshooter in one of the entrance. Place another 2-4 Sharpshooter in the opposite side of the entrance. Place three 2-2 Electricizers one by one in the middle of the map. Upgrade those Electricizers to 3-2. Once all other enemies are cleared. sell your Electricizers and Sharpshooters that are out of range of the Apparition. Depending on where the apparition is going, spam 2-4 sharpshooters over at that entrance.

5. Pink Duplicate
Your loadout.
5-X, X-5 Recon Base is locked.
You'll receive 1000 base health.

3-X upgrade for Electricizer and Sharpshooter is locked. Third upgrade on both paths for Bugler is locked. Ranked Up modifier is applied. $6,000 starting cash. 500 Base HP. +50% economy

Don't use any skins for elite besides the default one (the night raider skin is bugged). Place 4 2-3 Electrizers. Then, place 1 3-2 elite. Place a 2-2 bugler. Place another 4 2-3 electrizers (place them behind the first ones to avoid them targeting only one enemy/syncing). Upgrade bugler to 4-2 (use drums at soon as wave 29 starts). Spam 0-4 elites (don't use the ovecharge ability until wave 30, and keep on using drums when it's ready after wave 29). Use the overcharge ability on the engineer twice and the carrier thanks once their shield health deplets. Keep on spamming 0-4 elites and spam the abilty on boltmaster. You may micro them (placing, upgraeing, using ability, seliing, repeat) however this is unnesesary since spamming is easier and more effective.
11. Bring The Special Ops
3000 starting cash.
Recon Base and Elite only.

This challenge is easy to solo. Place three 4-2 Recon Base at the back and place six 4-2 Electricizers. Place two 2-4 Electricizers then place a 4-2 and a 2-4 Bugler. On the loop, spam 2-4 Vulcans. It is recommended to chain Snare Drums.
19. Explosive Business (Multiplayer)
Market, Businessman, Demolitionist and Gunslinger only.
3-X upgrade for Gunslinger is locked.

You can do this alone by putting 6 2-0 Businessmen, upgrade 2 of them to 2-2 then DURING THIS IT'S VERY IMPORTANT upgrade 1 or 2 Businessmen to 2-3 when flying come. Put a 2-4 Gunslinger for Gargantuan X. Upgrade the rest of the Businessmen to 4-2, and then spam 2-4, Demolitionists, and use the abilities on tough enemies, mainly the Saber Champion on the final wave.
20. The Weak vs the Strong

Get 1 1-2 Sharpshooter at the first C-curve, upgrade it to 1-4 after that, get 1 3-0 Sharpshooter next to the 1-4 Sharpshooter and place 2 3-0 Sharpshooters at the 2nd and 3rd C-curves, when the Cursed Fires from wave 14 starts to get past the 2 Sharpshooters of the 1st and 2nd curve, sell the Sharpshooter of the 2nd curve and put 1 3-0 Sharpshooter and a 0-0 Sharpshooter at the 3rd curve near the first one, the point of doing this is to minimize the damage of the Cursed Fire to the base. (In the end, you should have 1 1-4 and 1 3-0 Sharpshooters at the 1st C-curve, 0 Sharpshooters at the 2nd C-curve, and 2 3-0 and 1 2-0 Sharpshooters at the 3rd C-curve. )

After Faster And Stronger, the Advanced Challenge cycle returns to Unseen Threat.



Tier 5 Challenges

Tier 5 challenges are special challenges that unlocks the 5th upgrade for Towers. It will be playable once you finished all quests in the current category.

As of 30/03/25, Recon Base, Electricizer and Lightbeamer are the only towers with tier 5 challenges.

Recon Base:

TIP: Get 1-X before setting it's spawning to automatic. Upgrade the businessmen to 1-3, starting with the first one you placed to the last. Upgrade the recon to 3-0, then 3-2.
Overload
Mechanic, Elite and Recon Base only.
3-X upgrade for Recon Base is locked and Hardcore Modifier is applied.

Place 8 2-2 Electricizers at the small island close to the base, upgrade 5 of them to 2-3 and 3 of them to 3-2 afterwards, during wave 31, when the second Carrier Tank reaches the second loop (It's health should be around 1000 at that point), skip the wave instantly and get a fourth 2-3 Electricizers so that if the Carrier Tank spawned an Elite Drone there will still be enough time to kill it before it enters your base, after getting 5 2-3 Electricizers and 3 3-2 Electricizers, upgrade the 2-3 Electricizers to 2-4 whenever you have enough cash, the rest of the challenge should be easy to complete. (Do NOT turn on Auto Skip)

Strategy
Place 3 Electricizers at the area where it can cover most of the path. And then you can spend rest of the income to upgrade Electricizers to 0-1, or move your Electricizers to better location. Make sure to spam click the frozen towers to un-stun them.
Currently there's a glitch that causes the unfrozen towers to keep the ice block visual on them permanently. If one towers does not attack for a very long time and shaking at the same moment, that means the tower is currently frozen.

Lightbeamer:

Strategy
Important: check this video for placement reference. Place a 0-0 Lightbeamer and Crossbower. Upgrade both towers to 0-2 alternating between the towers. Upgrade Crossbower to 1-3. Skip waves 12, 13, and 14 then sell Crossbower to quickly upgrade Lightbeamer to 0-3. Place a 1-3 and a 0-0 Crossbower at the back (do it fast). Afterwards, get another 0-3 Crossbower (sell the 0-0 Crossbowerfor extra cash). Sell the 1-3 Crossbower to afford a 3-1 Lightbeamer. When Berserker comes around, you can sell the final 1-3 Crossbower to get the 3-1 Lightbeamer to 3-2.

Tip: set the 1-3 Crossbower at step 5 to strong targeting.
(May take a few tries)

Trivia

  • Electcrolysis is currently the shortest challenge, with only one wave, beating Beginning of the End, which was originally the shortest with 4 Waves.
    • If not counting Tier 5 Challenges, Beginning of the End is still the shortest.
  • Beating 4 different advanced challenges reward you the Elite tower, and the Elite Defender badge.
    • You will have Elite in some preset challenge loadouts, and you will be able to test the tower.
    • Even Businessman and Recon Base can be tested in some challenges, which are towers that are hard to get.
  • Challenges were introduced at the Blissful Revelations (Overhaul) update.
  • Seaside Shakedown is the first challenge to have a modifier applied, the second being Road Rage.
  • Boss Incoming is the only simple challenge with Expert difficulty.
  • The first ever known challenge was "Boss Rush" with easy difficulty (Now Normal) with 10 waves, it was leaked in Tower Blitz discord, however this challenge was removed in an unknown date.
  • Challenges formerly gave Tokens before Points.
  • The Underdogs Simple and Advanced challenge gives the lowest amount of points, with only being 2.
    • They both are also the only challenges to share the same name.
  • Ignitus is the only final boss who does not appear in challenges, while Overlord only appears once as seen in Beginning of the End.
    • Due to the number of waves being lowered in Cold Construct 2022, Ignitus unintentionally appears in Heated Battle and Crystal Rush.
    • Though due to a bug, Overlord no longer appears in Beginning of the End.
  • During Dragon's Keep's archiving, the only way to play on this map is to do the Close Chaos Challenge.
  • Surveyor can bypass upgrade restrictions. This is most likely an oversight.
    • Businessman can also be upgraded to 4-2 in Lack of Upgrades.
  • Blinding Light used to take place in Hard Mode and had Fundless modifier, but it was changed due to being impossible.
  • One in the Chamber and Electrolysis are currently the only two challenges to change enemies' stats rather than using modifiers.
  • During an update in February 2025, Expert Mode was reverted from its 40-wave structure to its original 50-wave structure.
    • This broke many challenges that took place in Expert, making them significantly easier.
    • A well-known example is Beginning of the End, which originally put the player(s) against The Corrupted and Overlord during the final waves 37-40.
      • However, as the 50-wave structure returned, it meant that the mentioned bosses returned to waves 47-50, and the player(s) now fought against Robotic Overseer instead, which made the challenge extremely easy.
