Unknown I'm glad you asked. —Unknown, Wave 50 of Expert Mode, Ranked Up. |
Description
Chronos is the final major boss in Expert Mode, Ranked Up. It is a stronger variation of the Overlord, which is the final boss of Expert Mode without the modifier applied.
Lore
"Chronos. A rather ironic name, given the Overlord's relationship with time."
"Codenamed CHRONOS. The former shadow of the Overlord. The great king of the largest army in the Orion Arm spanned over millions of solar systems. His true, unadulterated form was almost unstable and incredibly dangerous, but the former stoic and calm nature of the Overlord kept him under control. The revelation of the truth revealed a major flaw for his future."
"The former shadow of the Overlord. The great king of the largest army in the Orion Arm spanned over millions of solar systems. His thirst for power led him to the truth, of which he has never recovered from. (he is unfinished so he is just a stronger overlord)"
"hes back from alpha"
Appearance
Chronos looks almost exactly the same as the Overlord, but with a red and black color scheme and some minor differences.
The most noticeable differences is the two additional heads that are located near the shoulders. Some minor differences relating to color and miscellaneous visuals are that Chronos has completely black skin with scarlet eyes, he additionally wears black armor with red tinting across it.
He also wears a prestige crown on his head, along with two large horns. Chronos wields the Overlord's iconic staff which he uses for his abilities. He has a red forcefield surrounding him.
Tactics
- Use the same tactics as used to defeat the Overlord, however more players than just yourself are required to beat this boss as it has
800,000 HP.
- Long range towers are very effective since Chronos stuns quite often. Some of these towers can be the Electricizer and Sniper.
Trivia
- Its former enemy description implies that this enemy used to be in the alpha phase of the game, but was unused until Expert Mode, Ranked Up gave a purpose to it after the Blissful Revelations update.
- The purpose was found to be the final boss in Expert Mode that was originally supposed to come out on the part 2 of the Beta Update (also known as the update where many of the features in the Blissful Revelations update was supposed to come out on).
- Chronos (a.k.a Overlord) seem to had been reworked along with most of the enemies on wave 41-50 in the old Expert Mode during the Blissful Revelation update, since OsterDog wasn't happy with them and Chronos was finished first before the rest of them.
- OsterDog renamed Chronos to Overlord because a game called Zombie Madness was supposed have a final boss named King Chronos. It was leaked to the public during 2020 but hasn't appeared in the actual game yet.
- This very well could've inspired Chronos as the colour scheme and appearance fairly resembles each other.
- Oster also noted that Chronos (a.k.a Overlord) was originally supposed to have an ability that would slow down time as well.
- The purpose was found to be the final boss in Expert Mode that was originally supposed to come out on the part 2 of the Beta Update (also known as the update where many of the features in the Blissful Revelations update was supposed to come out on).
- The color scheme for Chronos references the Drone M5's enemy description.
- Chronos is also the name of the god of time in Greek mythology.
- Chronos shares the same model of the horns with Molten Boss (TDS)
- Chronos and Overlord are the enemies with most abilities, tied with seven abilities.
- Chronos, pukeyellowchronos and Cash man awakened are the only enemies to have three heads.
- A Chronos remodel makes a cameo in another game by Osterdog, Evade, in a map called Nightmare Library.
- Chronos has the second highest health of any enemy that appears in regular gameplay, surpassed by Glacius. This does not include Arrow Boss and Modifier-buffed enemies.
- This only makes sense, as it was stated that Glacius is stronger than him.
- In old version, Chronos shares the same health with Glacius for a very short period.
- Chronos' health is still the highest in normal gamemode.
- Chronos used to be the unsuppressed form of Overlord.
