Information

Final Fortification, also known as Arctic Frontier, is a map appearing in Cold Construct 2022 Event and Cold Construct 2023 Event. As the final chapter of the event, all enemies from previous chapter returns and received massive buffs compared to previous chapters. Lead by Glacius, the Constructs will make their final rush against player's forces to turn the tides of war.

Upon triumphing Final Fortification players would be rewarded with the Surveyor, an exclusive offensive/support event tower. Beating Final Fortification during the 2022 Event awards the Avarian Assassin Surveyor skin.

It take ~40 seconds for an Ice to walk the side gate lanes, and ~50 seconds for the further gate lanes.

Overview

Final Fortification is set in a frozen outpost with a gate which seems to have been broken by the Constructs. Enemies will come from the red gates and will eventually enter the outpost. At the first few waves, both side gates will be opened, then the far left at Wave 6, far right at Wave 10 and middle at Wave 15. A tank from the Winter Ops Recon Base skin can be found near the exit.

Strategy

• For early games, AOE towers like Demolitionist, 3-2 Crossbower, 2-4 Sharpshooter and 0-4 Mechanic are a good choice.
• Note that you can place towers on top of the bastion walls, buildings and even the gate. Use this as your advantage.
• Use 1-3 Lightbeamers, 2-4 Snipers, or 2-4 Sharpshooters to effectively deal with the Festive Heli or the Festive Biplane, Be warned that they might not target.
  • Alternatively, using many 4-2 Elites all backed up by a 4-2 Bugler can instantly shred them as well.
• Using Surveyor is highly recommended, as use of both paths can greatly increase tower performance.
  • Specifically, 4-x's damage buff is great for high-dmg towers, while 2-4 is a great counter to flying enemies.
• For Wave 19, Use Anti-air towers like 2-4 Lightbeamers, 2-4 Surveyors, or 4-2/0-4 Elites to deal with The Nexus. For Wave 23, put some fast-firing towers at the back if necessary, such as 4-2 Vulcans or 4-2 Elites, in case the Combuster triggers 15 Maximum damage protection.
  • For advance, Bliss of Finality is also a good option when facing these two waves, though you need to time it properly since it has long cooldown. You can use 6 3-X Businessmans or sell-and-rebuild method to reduce the cooldown.
    • Do note however, avoid using Bliss of Finality when facing Glacius. It's strongly recommended to sell 2-5 and change to 5-2 when reaching final wave.
• Be aware of when towers suddenly switch their target due to problems with the targeting system in multi-lane maps. It can leave some enemies unattended and therefore, making you lose.
  • X-3 Bugler, Recon Base or micro-managing the target priority is reliable in that kind of situations.

Trivia

• Originally, Final Fortification was planned to be in Cold Construct 2021 Event as Chapter 4, however, it was delayed because main developer, Oster being sick and then completely canceled due to lack of motivation and time as stated by Oster himself.
  • The first version of Final Fortification can be briefly seen in The Final Chapter trailer during the animated sequences.
    • The current version was remade at request by LordCatFood, due to Roblox-related issues in the first version of the map.
• Final Fortification holds some records.
  • Final Fortification is the first map to be cancelled.
  • Final Fortification has the most waves of an event map.
  • Final Fortification holds the record for the most lanes in the game, capping at 10 lanes.
  • Final Fortification was the first and only map to have a modifier pre-set, that being the Snowstorm modifier which occasionally freezes towers.
    • This modifier was later removed from the map.
• Arbiter, The Archangel and Gingerbread are the only enemies to not return from the previous chapters.
  • Arbiter was killed by player's forces in Chapter 3 and is revived as the Mechanical Arbiter which debuts in Wave 20.
  • The Archangel was killed by player's forces in Chapter 3, and it was the last Archangel alive.
  • It is not known why Gingerbread does not return.
• This is the first time Bobo appears as a narrator apart from the April Fools event.
• Final Fortification was notorious for being poorly optimized, lagging most players during late-game and straight up crashing low-end devices.
  • This is often joked as one of Glacius' abilities by the community, due to his lack of abilities.
  • Strangely enough, the lag caused sluggish enemies to move much quicker than usual.
  • Since then, it was found by a former developer, LordCatFood, that part of the lag came from the freezing animation.
    • This has been fixed alongside other optimization fixes to the map, though low-end devices may still suffer from lag.
