Description

The Magician is a secret tower that can only be seen in the Ruins map through a set of steps. It fires colored projectiles at enemies with splash damage, applying a random effect being burn and electricity. It has a unique passive ability which transforms enemies into bobodancebig.

The Magician has no defense piercing.

Appearance

The Magician wears dark blue robes, with a black undershirt. Mid-Summer Top Hat, along with the Sword Cane Gear being wielded within his right hand. Both are Roblox Catalog items.

Lore

"I'm sorry, I apologize to all my higher-ups here at the organization but I have to make something clear, and I don't care that I'm breaking several regulations and NDAs by speaking of this here within our intel database. This man is sick and twisted in the head. He's a freak who thinks he's got like some sort of magical power or something. Okay, so me and some buddy served in early parts of the war before my promotion, right? We were helping secure an urban area from an assault of spored people. Guess who we found? He was dressed in all purple, a giant top hat and he was walking with a cane. He seemed to be pretty young, though, so unless he was cosplaying as a cripple he seemed perfectly capable of walking. Anyways, one rule of social behavior is to never make eye contact with the weird guy on the street, and I had just broke that rule. So this guy makes eye contact, comes running over to our platoon and starts talking. I was hoping for the best, you know, enemy intel or something? No, this guy, I swear, walks up and says 'You wanna see a magic trick?' We were quite down as a team, you know, a lot of people died there, but I figured maybe this was his weird way of making us feel better. So I go, 'Yeah, sure, why not.' Biggest mistake of my life. So he heads over, puts his arm in his pocket (we almost thought he was pulling out a gun so we started to aim), and pulls out a card. Okay, I see where this is going. I remember way back in college before this mess I knew a guy who was really good with these sorta party tricks. Anyways, he says to count a number from 1 to 3 and say it in your head. He then tells us to add 3 and say it out loud. Are you kidding me? Does he think we're that dumb? I tell him, '5', and he says, you were thinking of 2, right? That wasn't even a damn party trick! I swear to god I was about to shoot him right there, but for a moment, I almost felt bad, you know, he seemed too innocent. Then, he says 'Oh, that wasn't the magic trick. This is.' I see that damn cane and he hits me with it twice, probably cause I was thinking of the number two or whatever. I'm not authorized to shoot civvies, but hell I was certainly thinking of breaking that rule. Regardless, he then goes, I got one last magic trick. 'You are now breathing manually, blinking manually, there is no comfortable spot for your tongue, you feel your clothes on your skin and you can see your nose in your-' He was cut off by one of my partners who immediately shot him in the head. Okay, weird but he's gone, right? Nope. Apparently, that pistol wasn't enough, cause he immediately got back up and started tackling one of my men. We got the hell out of there, cause who knows what that guy could've done? Well, anyways, that's all really, well other than the fact that the magician was the only one alive within said urban area. He could've killed all of them, hell if I know, but at least we got outta there. Point is, if you see a man in a purple top hat, run as fast as you can."

Abilities

Transformation Target will be transformed into bobodancebig at random. Statistics   bobodancebig will retain Health of its original form, as well as Shield Health if any. Attributes, resistances and abilities are removed. Any carrier-type enemy transformed will summon its summons as bobodancebig. Bosses, Vengeful Champion and Pure Champion cannot be transformed.

Strategy

Summoning the Magician

• Play on the Ruins map on Expert mode. Modifiers do not affect the steps. Do not skip any waves and turn off autoskip.
  • It's recommended to play with Wealthy and Apocalypse (optional for faster game) modifier for the next steps.
• In the center loop with a Magician statue where all paths connect, place a minimum of five tier 5 upgrade towers, which creates purple links to the statue.
  • Any Tier 5 tower can be used, though a minimum of 4 purple links should be present by having 5 towers of same tier 5 upgrade.
  • Other non-tier 5 towers can be placed if desired, however they must be within the circle, including Recon Base, Markets and Turrets.
• At Wave 18, the Magician will spawn in the statue's place.
  • If Magician does not appear on Wave 18, you may have missed or failed certain steps.
• Players in the match will unlock a secret contract but will not permanently own the tower.

Using the Magician

• The Magician is an incredibly powerful tower with its transformation ability, transforming any enemy into bobodancebig, which has same health points as enemy before transformation and moves at an above average speed.
  • This makes Magician good counter against fast enemies like Sprinter M5, flying enemies like UFO, carrier enemies like Carrier Tank and enemies with threatening abilities like Unstable Vessel.
  • The Magician's set placement is at a loop where all paths connect, and it has an incredible range of 80 along with splash damage, which makes sure it can hit the maximum amount of enemies from a far range.
    • The Magician can be buffed by Bugler to decrease its cooldown, making it fire faster and apply effects at a greater pace.
    • If desired, Bugler and Surveyor can increase the Magician's range up to 40%.
  • Keep in mind that bosses, Vengeful Champion and Pure Champion cannot be transformed.
    • Vengeful Champion and Pure Champion can cause the strongest boss in the map to teleport into their place when "transformed", if any bosses are on the map. If not, it simply duplicates itself.
      • This is especially threatening in wave 45, where 2 Vanguards are on the map, with multiple accompanied Vengeful Champions.
  • However, the ability is completely RNG-based, thus it is less effective and shouldn't be relied on.

Trivia

• Despite not being actual bosses, Vengeful Champion and Pure Champion cannot be transformed into bobodancebig.
  • This is most likely due to the mentioned enemies being Saber Champion remodels, the mentioned boss being an actual boss.
    • This causes an odd interaction where Vengeful Champion and Pure Champion can the strongest bosses on the map with higher health than it, to teleport into their place when "transformed". If not, it simply duplicates itself. This may not be intended.
    • This is more obvious on Wave 45, where Vengeful Champions accompany Vanguards.
• The Magician is the first tower exclusive to a map.
• The Magician is the second tower to apply multiple effects to enemies, the first being Crossbower on bottom path.
• The Magician is an actual tower placeable by developers and admins, spotted by multiple players playing with said admins. An example can be seen here.
  • Originally, the Magician was intended to be a melee tower and was supposed to be unlocked through an event similar to Mechanic, however, the reason for its cancellation is unknown.
• The Magician is the only non-canon tower.
