Captain "Sentinels? I have a feeling that there's still another boss left." - Captain, Wave 32 on Expert Mode |
Description
The Sentinel is a middle to late-game enemy exclusive to Expert Mode that has 19,000 normal health along with
6,000 shield health and has a below average speed. It spawns after a horde of Motherships are defeated and before the Robotic Overseer arrives.
Lore
"A fine-tuned design used for the unknown faction, as one of the war-commanding units. They prove intelligence in commanding the army, but don't share it when on the field. Nobody knows why they are suddenly attacking."
Appearance
Sentinel is seen having a primarily black and purple color scheme. It wears a black neon suit with a purple tie whilst also wearing a modified domino crown with purple imprints, it also wears a utility belt with two neon Hyperlaser pistols - however, it does not use them. Neon violet eyes which glow slightly are laid on its face, but it has no mouth at all. While it does look a living sentient being, it is actually cybernetically manufactured underneath its facade. This is proven from its death animation, which is similar to when a UFO or Drone perishes, both being non-living enemies.
Tactics
- Similar to the Pure Energy, Sentinels are meant to alert you that Robotic Overseer will arrive soon. Use advantage of this, as you are given time to prepare before Robotic Overseer spawns.
- Having multiple high DPS towers like Vulcan, Sniper, Lightbeamer or Electricizers to take them out swiftly.
- 4-2 Elite can easily decimate Sentinel's high shield health.
- X-4 Elite Immolator Overcharge can destroy its shield health with one shot.
- The buffs from Bugler can really come in handy when defeating these foes.
- A 4-2 Freezer can freeze multiple Sentinels at a time, making them immobile for a very long time, this is optimal due to giving other towers time to damage them.
Trivia
- Sentinel originally had no walking animation.
- As of now, this has been fixed.
- Sentinel is currently the only enemy in the game to use R15 animations instead of R6.
- This is because Tower Blitz enemies and towers were originally supposed to use R15 rigs before the idea got scrapped for an unknown reason, and Sentinel is the only R15 enemy to be added into the final game.
- Sentinel also has a unique pair of eyes not seen in other enemies, which is based on the default Roblox face, and similar to the R15 rig, the face was originally intended to be the default face for enemies and towers.
- Both of these features can be seen in a teaser for Retro Tower Blitz, where unreleased enemies and a previous iteration of Gunslinger use the R15 rig and the default Roblox face before being replaced.
- This is because Tower Blitz enemies and towers were originally supposed to use R15 rigs before the idea got scrapped for an unknown reason, and Sentinel is the only R15 enemy to be added into the final game.
- Sentinel, along with the Elite Teleporter, are the only enemies that can be frozen by the Freezer for more than two seconds. The time frozen being 10 seconds specifically.
