Description
The Shielder is an enemy that makes its debut in Expert Mode and 'Ranked Up' Hard Mode. It has decent health, defense, and a slow speed, but a high amount of Shield Health to compensate.
The Shielder is replaced by the Gargantuan on Normal Mode the Gargantuan X on Hard Mode, and the Reforged Gargantuan on 'Ranked Up' Expert Mode.
Lore
"The unknown army's variation of the Gargantuan resulted in the Shielder. The plasma shield can sponge more damage compared to a hard-metal shield, but reacts harshly to other plasma."
Appearance
The Shielder now takes on a more futuristic appearance, with its black granite armor being replaced with a sleek white metal armor. Its body is also now grey in color.
The Shielder's appearance contrasts compared to its weaker Gargantuan counterparts. For example, it has completely blackened skin and a black helmet protecting its head and a highly advanced plasmatic shield on its left arm. Both arms have two white neon band wrapped around the bottom medium / bottom portion. The Shielder appears to be heavily spiked in some regions, such as its shoulder-pads.
Tactics
- Use high DPS towers like Electricizer and Sniper to deal with this quite efficiently.
- Support towers like Bugler can boost the amount of firerate, range, and damage to nearby towers.
- Elite can shred Shielder's
Shield Health. 4-2 Elite is more recommended due to its 100% defense pierce.
Trivia
- Unlike its counterparts from other modes, namely the Gargantuan and Gargantuan X, the Sheidler is not called a Gargantuan.
- Unlike the Gargantuan variants, the Shielder does not lose its shield or speed up when its shield health is completely depleted.
- The lore about its shield reacting harshly to plasma, is a reference to the Elite's Plasma Bombardment (X-2) upgrade, which allows it to deal 3x damage to shields.
- The Shielder makes a high-pitched roaring sound when it spawns.
