Saber Champion "ARGH- FINE!" "I'LL JUST TAKE YOU DOWN MYSELF!" - Saber Champion, Wave 28 on Hard Mode |
Description
The Vengeful Champion is a late-game enemy that resembles a vengeful version of the Saber Champion. It moves slowly and has 40,000 health along with
8 defense. Even though the Vengeful Champion looks tough, you can beat it easily by having tons of high DPS towers. However, this enemy will stun your towers more often.
Vengeful Champion replaces the Saber Champion in 'Ranked Up' Hard Mode and is replaced by the Pure Champion when the 'Ranked Up' attribute is applied in Expert Mode.
Lore
"'Impressive. But not impressive enough'. Well, considering how hard he scrutinized the other units, I'll take it. The Vengeful Champion was never meant to be on the front lines, or to be an ultimate killing machine. Comparing and contrasting the time and cost it takes to construct a Vengeful Champion, I'd say it is quite efficient."
"Similarly to Boltmaster, these units are reformed variants of the original's corpse. It lacks the tough armor that Boltmaster had, yet seems to have been produced infinitely more."
"Although the once great Saber Champion has fallen to the might of the rebels, the organization controlling these bounty hunters have a great amount of these Vengeful Champions."
Appearance
The Vengeful Champion resembles the Saber Champion with many changes.
It dawns the former top hat that the Saber Champion had worn but the white band is now removed. A noticeable difference between the Vengeful Champion and the Saber Champion however is that the Vengeful Champion has sharp horns attached to the sides of its head that extend up which is best described to that of a water buffalo's horns. Metallic material can be seen to partly form the armor. Additionally, it has the XCF's emblem on its chest and has metallic indigo angry eyes.
Two purple gemstones are attached near where the hands are along with bright blue bands wrapping around the upper arms. A large, levitating cyan blue gemstone floats behind its head. Two other gemstones, purple in color, float on either side of the blue gemstone behind the shoulders.
Its sword is multi-colored, ranging from light pink to light blue.
Tactics
- When encountering this enemy, always use high DPS towers such as multiple 2-4 Vulcans and 4-2 Electricizers to kill this enemy quickly.
- These must be buffed by a 4-2 Bugler to boost their DPS further.
- Beware that its Vengeful Slash ability can stun groups of your towers if placed close to the path, which can be a detriment.
- Using Mechanic's Forcefield Generator ablilty can help obstruct its stuns.
- You can also use several 2-4 Electricizers to stun this enemy, buying extra time for your main DPS towers to deal additional damage.
Trivia
- Strangely, defeating one of the Vengeful Champions before the Saber Champion will award you with the 'Saber Crash' badge.
- This also applies to the Pure Champion.
- Vengeful Champion's enemy description implies that the Unseen Army had replicated the now presumably deceased Saber Champion into deadly units seeking for vengeance.
- There was bug within the Vengeful Champion's animations: its left arm stays completely still unlike the rest of its body. This could be seen when it dies: its left arm will hang in the air while the rest of its body collapses.
- This was fixed in a later update.
- Vengeful Champion produces a slight laugh upon spawning.
- This could possibly be a reference to how Saber Champion also laughs when he spawns.
- The Vengeful Speed and Vengeful Speed X also uses this sound effect, but it is lower pitched.
- This leaves the Vengeful being the only enemy in the Vengeful series that has no spawning noise.
- The Vengeful Champion and the Saber Champion could be a reference to Jango Fett and the Clone Troopers from the Star Wars franchise, as Jango Fett was a bounty hunter with the Clone Troopers being exact DNA clones of him. The Saber Champion and Vengeful Champion's lore suggest a similar story to this.
- The Vengeful Champion wields a re-textured variant of the Nebula Sword.
- The Vengeful Champion was, for a few days, the only enemy without a description, but it was fixed days later.
- Much later, various Construct enemies such as the Aerial Minor also lack an enemy description.
- Vengeful Champion has the highest health for a non-boss enemy, having such a large health pool that it surpasses the bosses Voltmaster and Saber Champion.
- Prior to Enemy Rebalance Update (2.4.14) Vengeful Champion had equal health to Boltmaster, contrary to the former's enemy description.
